What is Your Level of Maturity?

There are basically three levels of human development/maturity. Each step offers differing levels of personal power – the ability to choose, generate, create and cause the experience you want in life. We learn these steps as we grow intellectually, emotionally, physically and spiritually throughout our lifetime.

The first level begins with the influence of the environment in which we were born and then, dependent on our willingness to grow and learn, we move to higher levels. The three levels are:

  1. Tribal Power
  2. Individual Power
  3. Spiritual Power

Tribal Power is the Group Mindset and we all begin our journey here. Family, society, religion, political parties, cultural standards are all forms of group thought. The beliefs we have about people who are like “us”, and “them”, those different from us, are all formed in our growing up years.

When you are living on the Tribal Power level you are literally thinking, acting, working and moving at the speed of a group and your sense of power moves at the speed of the group. You run your ideas past a group of people for empowerment and approval.

The group determines who you can /cannot love/marry. The group determines what clothes you wear, what actions are acceptable, what is good/bad, right/wrong. When you step out the door, do you think it’s just you? No. It’s the whole tribe. You ask yourself, “How should I look, act speak, believe . . .” The Tribe determines.

Forgiveness is not in the Tribal Code. Vengeance, being right and honor is.

Individual Power reflects on the self and at some point sits up and realizes that “I” have something to do with the results in my life and in the world around me. When you are on the level of Individual Power, you recognize the responsibility you have for the quality of thought forms you have in your head and the consequences of those attitudes, judgments and beliefs. You willingly take accountability for your actions, reactions, inactions and results.

Spiritual Power is a Life Force removed from the Ego. When you are on this level, you separate yourself from yourself so you can observe yourself and learn from what you experience, without feeling threatened or defensive. You see everything as being a part of a magnificent spiritual design which is much bigger than you and yet you realize that you, too, are that spiritual design.

You realize the power of thought and how it can refuel your body with health and well-being or deplete it with sickness and pain. You realize you create your own reality and that what you generate externally affects you internally and what you focus on internally manifests itself externally. You understand we are here to learn how to manage our spirit, to learn how to become effective human beings, to be more interested in life working than in being right, to find workable solutions for everyone, to learn how to generate love not hate, how to build connection not separation. . . how to focus on our similarities, not our differences.

You can’t enter new levels of Spiritual Power/Evolved Awareness without preparation, just as you can’t be expected to fly a high powered jet when all you’ve flown is a helicopter. It takes a commitment to continuously practice consciousness.

Symbols of Spiritual Power are available to us all the time. We are constantly being given opportunities to grow, learn and expand our awareness. But we only see these signs/symbols occasionally because we don’t have the capacity to see them all the time. As we grow, so does our consciousness and our capacity to “see”.

When you are approached by the Universe/God/Spiritual Power, the only thing you have to answer is, “How much madness/fear do I have to go through before I will say, yes?” How much do you have to endure before you surrender and trust the process and trust that everything that enters your life is a gift – there to support you to evolve spiritually?

Consciousness changes the speed of things. When we are aligned with Spiritual Power, life works and miracles happen, which is what terrifies us, which is why healing terrifies us, forgiveness terrifies us and why enlightenment terrifies us. Because when we realize the choice to actualize what we want in our lives is in our hands, the possibility is almost overwhelming. It is unfamiliar. We are so used to making things difficult and hard, the very thought it could be easy is frightening.

Perhaps one of the two most important questions we can ask is, “What is consciousness?” The juvenile answer is peace, harmony, joy, etc., the things we all want in our lives. But that is not consciousness. Consciousness is a willingness to let go, a willingness to change. The only way you can raise your consciousness to new levels of Spiritual Power is to be willing to let your life change.

The second question is, “What will you give up to get those things you want?” You will have them when you can answer, “I’ll give up everything.”

“I hate abortions, but just could not make that choice for someone else.”

Barbara Bush

The following was posted on Facebook by Christina Melanson King. I do not know her personally, but I know who she is simply by hearing what she believes. Her message is strong, clear and cannot be denied. She is someone who seeks the truth, who does not throw around rhetoric or who mindlessly follows political agenda. She thinks for herself and beyond herself. She thinks deep. She cares about justice for all not just some. Words matter to her and actions mean even more.

I like her. I respect her.

She wrote:

“Stop confusing “pro-forced birth” for “pro-life.” You are not pro-life if you are not for universal health care. You are not pro-life if you are against the idea of a social safety net. You are not pro- life if you are anti-refugee. You are not pro-life if you are against gun control legislation. You are not pro-life if you seek to continue the marginalization of minorities, women, children, and those in the LGBTQ+ community, and don’t even get me started on the whole school-to-prison pipeline.

If you are not for ACTIVELY assuring that everyone can live their longest, healthiest, happiest life through the provision of basic human needs, equitable treatment within our society, and protection from senseless violence then you are not pro-life.You are pro-forced birth – so call it what it is.

Pro-life is ALL life, most especially those of us already living.”

The definition of Pro-Life should be changed to Pro-Forced birth or Anti-Choice, because that is what it truly is. If Pro-Life is only for the unborn, it’s a false, hypocritical concern for life.

We should all be allowed to make our own choices in life. We live in a democracy, not a tyrannical authoritarian regime that has a right to determine choices we make for our own bodies and our own lives.

If you don’t believe in abortion, I respect your right to not have one. In turn, others who do not share your beliefs have a right to make their choices without government interference.

Women’s bodies are more regulated than guns.

Think about it . . .

Pro-Life/Pro-Forced Birth/Anti-Choice is “I know what is best for you.”

Pro-Choice is “I know what is best for me.”

“Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.”

Oprah Winfrey

What Do You Love About Today?

So often, we tend to focus on what is missing in our lives. In our relationships, we want more attention, acknowledgment and acceptance. In our jobs, we want more recognition, a promotion and better pay. In life, we want a bigger house, more fun, more money, more time off, more friends, more excitement, more travel . . . more, more, more and a part of us remains dissatisfied, incomplete, wanting for whatever reason, things we don’t have and we complain, get depressed, whine, give up, get angry, jealous and feel stuck and trapped when we don’t get it. It is an attitude of scarcity – there’s not enough and I am not complete until I have more.

While it is admirable to aspire to grow, to learn, to evolve, to achieve big things, we must not forget to celebrate where we are, what we do have, and who we have become with all of our accomplishments large and small. It is important to fill our hearts and minds with gratitude, to be grateful for this very moment – for the life that flows through our bodies, for the air we breathe, for the sun that gives us warmth and the rain that gives us water.

Be grateful for trials and tribulations, the challenges, mistakes and failures, because they are simply the gifts the universe constantly gives us to teach us how to be creative, patient and accepting, which in turn, help us evolve.

With gratitude comes happiness and with happiness comes more gratitude. This is an attitude of abundance – there is more than enough and I am overflowing with thanksgiving.

Energy attracts like energy. Scarcity thinking attracts more wanting. Abundance thinking attracts even greater abundance. We cannot always control the circumstances, events or the people in our lives, but we can always decide how we will interpret them and respond to them – with resistance or gratitude. The choice is ours to make, and so it is that we direct our lives.

Be Thankful

Be thankful that you don’t already have everything you desire.

If you did, what would there be to look forward to?

Be thankful when you don’t know something

For it gives you the opportunity to learn.

Be thankful for the difficult times.

During those times you grow.

Be thankful for your limitations

Because they give you opportunities for improvement.

Be thankful for each new challenge

Because it will build your strength and character.

Be thankful for your mistakes

They will teach you valuable lessons.

Be thankful when you’re tired and weary

Because it means you’ve made a difference.

It is easy to be thankful for the good things.

A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who are

also thankful for the setbacks.

GRATITUDE can turn a negative into a positive.

Find a way to be thankful for your troubles and they can become your blessings.”

“It takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, but an entire life to forget them.”

Author Unknown

Two friends were walking through the desert. During some point of the journey, they had an argument and one friend slapped the other one in the face.

The one who got slapped was hurt, but without saying anything, wrote in the sand:

“Today my best friend slapped me in the face.”

They kept on walking until they found an oasis where they decided to take a bath.

The one who had been slapped got stuck in the mire and started drowning, but the friend saved him. After he recovered from the near drowning, he wrote on a stone:

“Today my best friend saved my life.”

The friend who had slapped and saved his best friend asked him, “After I hurt you, you wrote in the sand and now, you write on a stone. Why?”

The friend replied, “When someone hurts us, we should write it down in sand, where winds of forgiveness can erase it away…but, when someone does something good for us, we must engrave it in stone, where no wind can ever erase it.”

Perhaps we all should learn to write our hurts in sand and to carve our blessings in stone.

Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
